I have a new BlackBerry (OS 6.0 or higher) and want to get Handheld Contact. How do I install it?

  1. Open Handheld Contact on the computer/server.
  2. Click on Maintenance and choose Resend All Data to Handheld.  Select the account and press Send All.  Press Yes, on the warning that appears.
  3. Once the PC has finished syncing, open the Browser on the new BlackBerry.
  4. Go to: www.handheldcontact.com/ota.
  5. Select the Professional Edition 3.x.x.x, choose Download.
  6. Once downloaded, run the app.
  7. Choose ‘I Agree’ to the licence agreement.
  8. Enter your Handheld Contact username and password.
  9. Press Next.
  10. Once it succeeds, ensure that the syncing from Step 2 has completed and then press Start Sync.

Note: Some devices may require an SD card to be inserted for Handheld Contact to work properly.  This will be the location where the database gets installed and it is to maximize the efficiency of Handheld Contact.  Unlike the old 2.0.7.9 client, the 3.x.x.x  client uses the efficient sqlite database. The sqlite database cannot be stored in the main memory on Blackberries without EMMC memory(eg.9700,9780).

Important:  If you already have Handheld Contact version 2.0.7.9 installed, you will need to delete this first prior to installing 3.0.  Please see this LINK for more info.
