I had an iPhone but switched to Android, how do I get it set up?

The following directions will be for customers who have received a new device with a different operating system.  The switching of devices from an iPhone to an Android device.  

Update your Handheld Contact Account:

  1. Have your Handheld Contact username (e-mail) and password handy.
  2. Visit Login // Handheld Contact — you will be asked to sign into your account first.
  3. Click on 'Edit Account' along the left side.
  4. Change the device from iPhone to Android.
  5. Click on the ‘Apply Changes’ button to save changes.

 

Update Handheld Contact on the PC, resend data, and then get new device set up:

  1. On the PC/server where Handheld Contact already exists, you will need to perform these steps.
  2. Open Handheld Contact on the PC/server.
  3. Select the account and press the Sync Now button on the left-hand side.  Wait for the sync to complete and then close Handheld Contact.
  4. Re-open the application and on the left above the Sync Now button you will see that it now reads you are syncing with “Android Standalone…”.
  5. Then click on Maintenance and choose Resend All Data to Handheld.  Select your account and press Send All.
  6. Choose Yes to the warning that appears.

 

Install Handheld Contact on your Android device:

  1. From the Android device's native internet browser visit: http://www.handheldcontact.com/ota.
  2. If entered correctly, this will take you to the Google Play application.  It will take you directly to the Handheld Contact download screen.
  3. Click on "Install" and download the application.
  4. Once the Download is complete, you can press the "Open" button or launch Handheld Contact from Application list.
  5. Enter you Handheld Contact account username (e-mail address) and password.
  6. Press "Sign in".
  7. If you have already set up and resent all data from the HHC Computer Application, then choose "Sync now".
  8. Once the sync is finished, you should be all set to go.

 

Finally, you will also need to ensure that the iPhone version has been removed from the old phone.  If the phone is no longer active, have internet access or working in general then this may not be required. To remove Handheld Contact, go to the iPhone.  Push and hold on the Handheld Contact icon.  Once it starts to vibrate, click on the X and delete Handheld Contact.
