I have upgraded to ACT! 2013/ACT! v16 or higher but I am now getting an error message with Handheld Contact.

If you have upgraded the ACT! database to ACT! 2013, version 15.0, ACT! v16, ACT! v17, ACT! v18, ACT! v19 or ACT! v20; you may get the following error message with Handheld Contact:


"Could not load file or assembly 'Act.Framework, Version=12.x.x.x, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=ebf6b2ff4d0a08aa' or one of its dependencies.  The system cannot find the file specified."


The reason for this error message is because you do not have the most recent version of Handheld Contact installed.  You will need to upgrade.


Please follow these steps:

  1. Close Handheld Contact on the PC/server.
  2. Go to: www.handheldcontact.com/downloads.php.
  3. Select the latest version (4.x.x.x) of Handheld Contact for that matches your version of ACT!.
  4. Download and install overtop of the existing software.  Choose 'Yes' if prompted to upgrade.
  5. Complete the install process using the default options.
  6. Once complete, press Finish and Handheld Contact should open automatically.  If not, just launch HHC from the Desktop.
