In order to correct this error, you need to manually install the Message Queuing Service. Please follow the steps below for your corresponding operating system:
Note: The installation of Message Queuing should not require a restart of the PC/server. If this is prompted, there are issues with the install process of Microsoft Message Queuing and would need to be addressed separately.
Server 2003:
- Click Start and open Windows Control Panel.
- Click Add Remove Programs and then click Add/Remove Windows Components link on the left.
- Select Application Server and press Details to access Message Queuing.
- Ensure that the option Message Queuing is selected.
- Click OK to return to the main screen with Appliation Server checked.
- Click Next. Complete the installation.
- When the installation of the message queuing service is complete, you need to click Finish in the Windows Components Wizard. The Message Queuing Service is now installed.
- Restart the HHC Services by clicking here.
Server 2008:
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Server Manager to display the Server Manager.
- Click Add Features to start the Add Features Wizard.
- Expand Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ), expand MSMQ Services, and then select the check box for the Microsoft Message Queuing (Server Core) features.
- Click Next, and then click Install.
- If you are prompted to restart the computer, click OK to complete the installation.
- Restart the HHC Services by clicking here.
Windows 8:
- From the Charms Bar, select Settings.
- Click Control Panel.
- Select Programs and Features. (Note: If Programs and Features is not displayed, select Programs, then Programs and Features.)
- Select Turn Windows features on or off.
- In the Windows Features dialog box, expand Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Server and Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Server Core.
- Select Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Server Core.
Note: The minimum feature required for Microsoft Message Queuing on Windows 8 is Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Server Core. If you do not select at least one sub component under Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Server Core it will not be installed.
- Click OK to begin the installation. You may be asked to insert your Windows Installation CD. You may be prompted to restart the computer.
- Restart the HHC Services by clicking here.
Windows 10:
- From the Desktop, click on Start Menu.
- Choose Settings.
- Select System.
- In the Search bar in the upper right corner, type out 'Windows features'.
- Along the left side click on the option for Turn Windows features on or off.
- In the Windows Features dialog box, expand the first option for Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Server.
- Click on the box that is labelled ‘Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Server Core’. The box should get filled in with a solid color.
- Click OK to begin the installation.
- Restart the HHC Services by clicking here.
Windows Server 2012:
- From the Start screen, select Server Manager.
- In the Server Manager dialog box, select Add Roles and Features from the center pane.
- In the Add Features Wizard, click Next.
- Determine the Installation Type relevant to your setup. Click Next.
- Select the server you are going to install your Workflow Server and/or Subscriber on. Click Next.
- Click Next on the Server Roles page.
- At the Select Features step, expand Message Queuing and Message Queuing Services.
- Select Message Queuing Server.
Note: The minimum feature required for Microsoft Message Queuing on Windows Server 2012 is Message Queuing Server.
- Click Next, then Install.
- Click Close when the installation finishes. Restart the HHC Services by clicking here.
Windows Server 2016 or later:
- From the Start menu, choose Server Manager.
- In the Server Manager, go to Manage then choose Add Roles and Features.
- On the Before You Begin screen, click Next.
- Select Role-based or feature-based installation and click Next.
- Select the server where to install the feature.
- Go to Features and navigate to Message Queuing, then Message Queuing Services and select Message Queuing Server.
- Click Install to begin installation.
- The setup may require a system restart. Click OK to finish.
- Restart the HHC Services by clicking here.
