How do you share contacts with Handheld Contact?

This article will explain how sharing contact records works with Handheld Contact.  This is the ability to send contact details (eg Name, Phone Number, Email, Mailing Address, etc) to another person.

iOS - iPhone and iPad devices:
  1. Open Handheld Contact on the iOS device. 
  2. From the main Home screen view, tap on Contacts.
  3. Choose the contact you wish to share.
  4. At the bottom of the Contact Details view, there will be 3 buttons.
  5. Select 'Share'.
  6. A 'Share Contact' screen will appear with multiple options:
    1. VCard:  All available fields will be attached to a vcf file.
    2. Work VCard:  All Work related fields will be attached to a vcf file.
    3. Home VCard:  All Home related fields will be attached to a vcf file.
    4. Custom VCard:  Must be enabled first.  Open Handheld Contact 'Settings', choose 'Contacts' then select 'Custom Share Setup' to choose which fields get applied to a vcf file.
    5. Clipboard:  Copies contact information to the device's clipboard.  Can be pasted into an email or SMS message.
    6. Cancel:  Stops the sharing process of selected contact.
  7. After selecting the above option (other than Clipboard) a screen will appear looking for how this vcf file will be shared.  This can be sent as required.

Android:
  1. Open Handheld Contact on the Android device.
  2. From the main Home screen view, tap on Contacts.
  3. Choose the contact you wish to share.
  4. Open the overflow menu (3 dots in top right corner) and choose 'Share'.
  5. A 'Share contact as' window appears.  You can choose from 'vCard file (VCF)' or Text.
  6. After making your selection the 'Share...' window appears where you can choose the method (email, SMS, bluetooth, etc) for how to share the contact.


Note:  Fields that get attached to vCard (vcf file) are: First Name, Last Name, Company, Title, Business Phone, Home Phone, Mobile Phone, Business Address, Home Address, Personal Email and Email.  Any custom fields will not be included.
