I have upgraded to Act! v24, how do I get Handheld Contact Classic to work with this?

This article will be for all customers who have recently upgraded their Act! database to v24.  Since Act! v24 is 64-bit, there is a matching version of Handheld Contact that is required.  Handheld Contact v4.x.x.x is 32-bit and has a different install folder than the 64-bit edition.  Therefore, you cannot just run the installer and upgrade overtop.  This process will require an uninstall and reinstall of HHC.

Here are the directions needed to get Handheld Contact 64-bit installed and syncing with Act! v24:

  1. Open the Start Menu and search for 'Control Panel'.
  2. Select the 'Programs and Features' option.
  3. Find Handheld Contact Classic (v4.x.x.x) in the listing.  Select it and choose uninstall.
  4. After the application is removed from the PC/server, close Control Panel.
  5. Visit our downloads page: Click here.
  6. Scroll down and select the Act! v24 (build 6.x.x.x) version of Handheld Contact.
  7. Download the file and then run the installer.
  8. After the application is installed, the Handheld Contact Classic application should launch automatically.
  9. Complete the configuration for adding the Handheld Contact user to the PC. Click here for step-by-step directions for setting up a user.
  10. Synchronize Handheld Contact Classic on the PC/server side.
  11. Once the PC/server application has completed the initial synchronization, proceed to the mobile device to sync there.
