This article will explain how the picture transfer works with Handheld Contact API. Picture transfer applies the images as an attachment within History. This is not the same as a contact photo attached in Act!.
Note: Picture transfer does not support Handheld Contact Classic.
iOS (iPhone/iPad):
- Upgrade to the latest Handheld Contact API software. Click here.
- Open Handheld Contact API on the device.
- From the Dashboard, tap on Contacts.
- Find the contact you wish to attach an image to their History.
- Swipe to the right and open the 'HISTORIES' tab. Press +.
- When creating the History, there will be a section for 'ATTACHMENTS'. Press on 'Attach'. Three options appear
- Select from photos - Opens the Photos app and allows user to choose which image to attach.
- Take picture - Opens the Camera so a photo can be taken and applied directly.
- Cancel - Exits the Attachment options.
- After the image is selected, a pop up will appear to allow user to choose size. Options and sizing are listed as per photo.
- When finished press on 'Done' to save the History and sync the image back to the Act! database.
- Handheld Contact API will move back to the HISTORIES tab and the new item will be listed.
- Open the Act! database and refresh. When you open the Contact and the matching History, you will see the newly attached image.
Android:
- Upgrade to the latest Handheld Contact API software. Click here.
- Open Handheld Contact API on the Android device.
- From the Dashboard, tap on Contacts.
- Find the contact you wish to attach an image to their History.
- Swipe to the left in order to open the 'HISTORY' tab. Tap +.
- When creating the History, there will be a 'paperclip' icon found in the upper right corner. After you tap this, 3 options appear:
- Take photo - Opens the camera so a photo can be taken and applied directly.
- Choose photo - Opens the Gallery/Photos app to choose the image to be applied.
- Cancel - Exits image attachment window.
- After the image is attached, its applied to the History.
- When the History is completed, press on the 'SAVE' button to sync back to the Act! database.
- A pop up will appear to choose the size of the attached image. Options are Small/Medium/Large/Original.
- After choosing the size, the History will sync to Act!.
- Open the Act! database and refresh. When you open the Contact and the matching History, you will see the newly attached image.
