When I launch Handheld Contact on the PC, I get an error "Unhandled exception occured in Handheld contact! Description of the error is: Could not load file or assembly ".

When you try to open Handheld Contact on the PC/server you receive the following error:

"Unhandled exception occured in Handheld contact! Description of the error is: Could not load file or assembly "System.Core, Version 3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral,publickeytoken=b77a5c561934e089" or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."

This error message indicates that the .NET Framework (version 3.5) is not likely configured properly.  In order for HHC to run properly it requires ACT! as well as this .NET Framework to be in working order.  I would suggest installing this software, restart the Handheld Contact services, then try opening the app again.

  1. Go to: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21 and download the .NET Framework.
  2. Run and follow the prompts for this installation.
  3. When finished, restart the HHC Services.  Click on Start, choose Run and type out 'services.msc'.
  4. The Windows Services window will appear.  Scroll down to 'HHC7Service', right click on it and choose Restart.
  5. Go back to the Desktop and try launching the Handheld Contact application again.
