After an upgrade on the Handheld Contact Desktop application to version, some customers have reported error messages appearing upon syncing.  The error message reads:

"Syncing failed. Error: The user: <ACT USER> has too much configuration data to send to the handheld. Please read the knowledge base for suggestions on how to trim this down before resending data for this user."

In order to correct this message, please follow the directions below:

  1. Ensure that Handheld Contact is closed.
  2. Open Windows Explorer (or My Computer) and navigate to the following location: C:\Program Files\Keystroke\HHC Enterprise Edition.  It may also be in the “Program Files(x86)” folder if you have a 64-bit operating system.
  3. Find the filename as 'ConfigurationManager.dll.config'.  Right click on it and choose 'Open with...'.
  4. Select Notepad from the list of options.
  5. A new window will open with the details of this file.
  6. On the fourth line there will be text that reads: <add key="maxConfigDataSize" value="150000"/>.
  7. Change the value from 150000 to 1350000.  Do not modify/remove any other characters.
  8. Once this value is changed, save the file and close Notepad.
  9. Restart the Handheld Contact Service.
  10. Launch Handheld Contact on the PC/server again.  Synchronize manually.

UPDATE:  This bug has been fixed in the latest Handheld Contact desktop application update.  Please upgrade the PC/server software to correct.
